Happy New Year, and what movie is the best of 2012 ?

Thank you so much all my readers of Daniels Super Sexy Movie Reviews :). I love to write and to see that i get visitors from all over the world :) I will continue posting reviews all next year, and i hope you will continue reading my reviews in the future :). Now, this is very hard, best movie of 2012 ? There have been many really good movies. Some awful ones of course, but one movie is very close to my heart. And the winner for this years best movie is:

The Expendables 2

Why ? There was not one movie that came out in 2012 that could beat this one for many reasons. Biggest cast list ever, one of the best action movies in a very long time, and how often do you get to laugh too that many cheesy lines as The Expendables 2 had ? It was the perfect cinema experience, and a perfect blu ray experience, i suggest you buy this one.

Have a great new year, and i will see you in here soon again :)

V/H/S

When i was 14 years old, me and my best friends started collecting VHS movies. We bought VHS movies, and of course recorded movies on different movie channels. I still keep some of the VHS movies i bought many years ago, they are nostalgic, and some are very hard to find. Nowdays when the technology have become so much better, VHS tapes are ancient history. And the quality of course is a big difference. After so many documentary horror movies come out, V/H/S looks different, made into 6 stories. Do we finally have a horror movie that dares to try a different style, or is this not what we expected at all ?

Tape 56

A group of young criminals, try and find new ways of upgrade their crimes. They enter a house in hope to find a certain VHS tape. In a room filled with tv´s, an old man is dead. The young men begin to watch some of the VHS tapes, but the content is something they could never have imagined.

Amateur Night

3 guys go out to get laid, and to party. They manage to bring 2 girls with them to their hotel room. But what begins as a threesome, is not turning out what anyone of them planned.

Second Honeymoon

Sam and Stephanie, a married couple, go out on a second honeymoon, to travel through the west, visiting a Wild West theme park also. Everything is going great, until a strange woman knocks on their hotel door. Who is she, and what does she want ?

Tuesday the 17th

4 young people travel on a camping trip. One of the girls, Wendy, tells her friends about what happened at this lake a year ago, when she was the only survivor of the brutal murders of her friends. Since they don´t care about Wendy´s words, the rest of the friends party on smoking pot. But as the party goes on, something strange is happening in the woods.

The Sick Thing That Happened To Emily When She Was Younger

Emily is video chatting to her doctor-to-be-boyfriend, James. She tell James about strange noises in her appartment, and try to show him at night, by filming a young boy who seems to come back for a reason. As Emily begin filming to show James online, more bizarre events are about to come.

10/31/98

4 guys dress up to a Halloween party. As they arrive to the house, where the Halloween party is supposed to be, the house is empty. But as soon as they check around, they realise that there might be someone else in here.

The best part about V/H/S is that they have tried to make this, as a Twilight Zone concept, done in a documentary way. And i like that. Since so many movies have followed the Paranormal Activity genre, its great to see a different perspective, by telling different stories in almost 2 hours. The stories have different quality, but this is nicely put together as a puzzle, as you begin to understand what this is all about. My only problem with V/H/S is that some of the actors, are not very impressive. They may become actors in the future, who knows, but some of them are not really good. Thankfully V/H/S is a good example of film making, when you try something different. And for that i have to give the 6 directors of these stories, a big applaude. V/H/S may not be ground breaking in any way, but if you like a different approach on horror, this may work for you if you have an open mind.

Resident Evil: Retribution

The video game industry is enormous, so how do you keep the fans of certain video games interested, in a different perspective ? Easy, you make a movie version, based on the video game. Resident Evil is one example. When the first movie, based on the video game, came out in 2002, it became a box office hit. Director Paul W.S. Anderson tried to bring the video game to a cinematic experience, and did a pretty good job. 4 more Resident Evil movies have came out since 2002, with very different results. Resident Evil: Retribution is the 5th movie in order, and director Paul W.S. Anderson is once again back as a director, does the concept of the video game still work, or is this a lazy excuse just to please game freaks ?

Alice ( Milla Jovovich ) wakes up as a housewife, living with her husband Ted ( Oded Fehr ), and her death daughter Becky ( Aryana Engineer ). But chaos strikes their neighbourhood, as zombies attack their house, and kill Ted. Alice and Becky escape from their house, and are rescued by Rain Ocampo ( Michelle Rodriguez ). Unfortunately the car crashes, Alice manage to survive with her daughter, but suddenly is attacked by her dead husband Ted. Alice wakes up again, now in the headquarters of Umbrella base. Here Alice is interrogated by Jill Valentine ( Sinenna Guillory ), without any result. Suddenly a power failure strikes the building, and Alice manage to escape. She finds her way into a Tokyo simulation, where she manage to survive. She meets Ada Wong ( Li Bingbing ), who wants to help Alice find a way out of the Umbrella base. But the Red Queen is planning to stop Alice from succeeding.

I have to be honest. This is so far the worst of the Resident Evil movies, but is it awful ? In some details, yes, but what saves Resident Evil: Retribution from falling deep, are the massive action scenes. There is a lot of action, so you wont be bored. The story itself is not an improvment, somwhere along the way director Paul W.S Anderson put all the effort on the action, and left the script next to his lunch. But let´s think for a minute, is this a movie made for a good script ? Not really, Resident Evil is supposed to be overthrown with violence and massive guns, and of course Milla Jovovich in leather outfits. So, all together, if you love this type of video game action, you will enjoy this one for sure. A 6th movie is coming, but they really need to improve some details, or we might get fed up.

The Baytown Outlaws

Around the 60´s, and into the 70´s, the movie industry delivered a lot of biker action movies. Ever since Easy Rider took the world by storm, bikers became a trend that stayed for many years, and then disappeared . When the 80´s arrived, times have changed for a new cinema audience. Some smaller productions came along, but it was not until 1991 when Stone Cold hit cinema we experienced massive action with bikers. Wrestler Brian Bosworth tried to bring back the classic genre, but the audience did not care. In 2008, Quentin Tarantino was one of the producers of the bike action movie Hellride, but even with a cast of Michael Madsen and Dennis Hopper, the movie flopped. The timing of the new biker movie The Baytown Outlaws may not be perfect, but maybe this is just what we need? Or is this a desperate try to bring fans of Tarantino to fall for the concept ?

In Alabama, 3 brothers, Brick Oodie ( Clayne Crawford ), Lincoln Oodie ( Daniel Cudmore ), and McQueen Oodie ( Travis Fimell ), work as vigilantes for the town Sheriff Henry Millard ( Andre Braugher. As they carry out a mission, to eliminate a wanted person, the fail and kill the wrong people. Desperate to get money, the accept a mission by a mother named Celeste ( Eva Longoria ). She witnessed their latest job, and feel they are perfect to hire. She needs to get her godson Rob back from drug lord Carlos ( Billy Bob Thornton ), godfather of Rob. The Oodie brothers accepts the mission, they manage to get the job done, but this is just the beginning of bigger problems. Carlos send out his best assassins to get Rob back, no matter what the price is, or how many dies, there is nothing that will stop him.

Yeeehaaaaw. I just thought of Sam Elliot in Road House, because this is exactly what you are going to get. Macho action on a Texas level, just as big as Patrick Swayzes fists in Roadhouse. Mix this together with Hellride, Death Proof and a bit of The Dukes Of Hazzard, and you got the perfect hillbilly movie, for all of you who love bikes, big guns and girls with tight asses. The script is nothing special, but i honestly don´t care. This is a hell of a fun movie, with a lot of funny scenes, mixed with hard pumping action, just like the old school days of video violence on vhs. Billy Bob Thornton may not do his best role, but he fits perfect as the drug lord Carlos, mean and a tough bastard. I have never heard of director Barry Battles earlier, but with this movie i get the feeling we have a talent to bring back video violence back to the big screen, when so many desperate directors just try to follow the latest trends. The Baytown Outlaws may not be the perfect movie for a big audience, but for us who appreciate this genre, prepare yourself for a really good time.

Silent Night

Christmas time is the jolly time of year, lots of food, lots of snow, a season most people enjoy. Let´s not forget Santa Clause, that children all over the world look forward to. But what if there is a different message about christmas, that we may not see very often ? Maybe christmas is not all about happiness, but more about misery,  pain and death ? Silent Night ( loosely based on the 1984 movie Silent Night, Deadly Night ) wants to make us see a different side of this holiday. Is this the perfect christmas i have always dreamed about, or is this a christmas eve you would rather forget for many reasons ?

Small town deputy officer Aubrey Bradimore ( Jamie King ) is out on patrol. She receive a call, about a bad smelling home in a calm family neighbourhood. As she arrives, a dead body have been cut into pieces, and another body executed in an electric designed chair. Sheriff James Cooper ( Malcolm McDowell ) promise Aubrey that this sick person will be punished. More dead bodies are found all over town, but who is behind all of these insane murders ?

You know, this is actually my kind of christmas movie. No cute christmas songs, no cute family pictures, instead we get some fleshy fun scenes, where body parts fly off, or simply get their bodies badly wounded. The concept have been made before in the 1984 version, but thankfully director Steven C. Miller tries some new strings, to make sure this updated version keeps the audience pleased. Even if Silent Night is a very simple horror movie on surface, this is a nice tribute to the 80´s slasher movies. And to see Malcolm McDowell on screen once again is a privelage. Silent Night can be bought on dvd in America, so far. It will arrive in Europe soon, but i suggest it´s worth buying yourself a copy, support movies makers with a good taste of nostalgia.

Safety Not Guaranteed

Imagine you are reading a magazine, and you notice an ad with the following words:

"Wanted: Somebody to go back in time with me. This is not a joke. P.O. Box 91 Ocean View, WA 99393. You'll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. Safety not guaranteed. I have only done this once before."

This actually happened in 1997, in Backwood Home Magazine. When i read that a movie was going to be made out of this article, i became very curious. Finally a true original story on screen. Nowdays we dont get many original stories made into motion pictures, and we also have Aubrey Plaza, from one of my favourite comedy tv series Parks & Recreation. Do we finally have a movie worth the attention from film festivals, or is the hype way too big to be true ?

A strange ad is found in Backwood Home Magazine. One of the magazine writers Jeff Schwensen ( Jake Johnson ), who decide to investigate the person behind this add. He goes on a road tripp with college graduate Darius Bratt ( Aubrey Plaza ) and Arnou ( Karan Soni ). They locate the man behind the ad, Kenneth Calloway ( Mark Duplass ). Darius approach Kenneth to show interest in the ad. If Darius does well on Kenneth´s tests, she might be chosen to go with him on a time travel. Is this all completely insane, or is Kenneth really who he says he is ?

Safety Not Guaranteed is one of the best comedies of 2012. This type of comedy fits perfect on me, strange ideas mixed with a touch of dark humour, with some really funny surprises along the way. Jake Johnson is hilarious as the magazine writer, who goes on this journey, mostly to try and get a blow job from a girl he had sex with, many years ago. As usual Aubrey Plaza does hes odd personality, and deliver some unforgettable lines, the way only she can do. The story itself is actually really clever put together, since this movie is only based on the magazine add. Director Colin Trevorrow have made one of the best movies of 2012. The budget is almost nothing, but this is so much better than most 200 million dollar budget box office hits. I feel ashamed that Sweden never gave this movie a chance to find audience in cinema, this is exactly what we need on a big screen. Most people will think this is a movie for nerds, and in some ways it is. But who cares ? This is really good entertainment, especially for all of you who are fed up with college movies, with the same storyline. Safety Not Guaranteed have something for everyone, i suggest you buy this one, it´s worth it.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

If you have not seen at least one of The Lord Of The Rings movies, there must be 2 reasons for that.

1. You are a twilight fan
2. You have not watched a movie since 1950

Because this is something you have to do before you die. Hopefully you watch all 3 of the movies, because they are all simply brilliant in different ways. Peter Jackson´s movie trilogy gave us a completely fantastic view of the classic books. And who can forget when The Return Of The King completely won every oscar statue in 2003, that was magical. So, when Peter Jackson left this magic trilogy, a lot of people were curious how he would continue after this. His version of King Kong was actually pretty good, but The Loved Ones, the movie that could have been spectacular, had some problems. Now, mr Jackson is back, to tell how it all begun with Bilbo. Considering how good the 3 movies were earlier, is Hobbit another classic, or is the magic lost along the way ?

Bilbo Baggins ( Ian Holm ) begins to write down the story, about the journey he did 60 years ago. Everything begins when Bilbo ( Martin Freeman as the younger Bilbo ) is tricked by Gandalf ( Ian McKellen ) to invite Thorin ( Richard Armitage ) and his dwarfs army. Gandalf wants Bilbo to go with them, to help the dwarfs steal back their treasure from Smaug. Not sure if he wants to go along, Bilbo changes his mind. Travelling together towards the Lonely Mountain, they will have to face fear in many different ways. A long time ago, father of Thorin was killed by Azog, but Thorin survived the battle. Now Azog wants Thorin dead, as he and his orch army go out to find him, Thorin prepare himself for battle with his new friends close to him.

I watched The Hobbit in 3D, and i have to say, i was surprised how much 3D effects have improved since i watch Thor in 3D, that was a big let down compare to this. you have alot of cool details along the way, both in the battle scenes, where it feels like you are close, and in the fantastic landscapes with bugs flying out of the screen. But what about the movie, is it any good ? Yes indeed, The Hobbit is a entertaining start of the new trilogy, but honestly not as good as the previous movies. Maybe one reason is most of the actors are not as good as Viggo Mortensen, Elijah Wood ( who is in a scene, for about 2 minutes ), Sean Astin, Orlando Bloom e t c. The new cast does a decent job, but their personalities does not give a strong impact. But if we look at the story itself, The Hobbit: An unexpected Journey, is a very well made movie, with a lot of work behind the special effects, some scenes are really beautiful, just like in the previous movies. It´s not as good as the previous ones, but still a great start of the new trilogy about Bilbo. Definitely worth to watch with the whole family now when christmas is almost here. You will have a good time, i know i did. And of course Christopher Lee is here as Saruman, this is acting on a very high level, not many can deliver, except for mr Lee.

Soldier Of Vengeance

There used to be a time when Steven Seagal were one of the biggest action stars. In the beginning of the 90´s he had some big box office hits. But times have changed. Now he is much older, who looks like a marshmallow man, who can barely jump anymore. And for every year we get a new action movie, released on dvd. Of all releases in the past 6 years, there have been at least 1 movie that was ok. Seagal have been on the tv series True Justice lately, and this movie is supposed to be based on 2 episodes from the tv series. So, is this a surprise, or the same old business ?

Elijah Kane ( Steven Seagal ) leaves his special undercover police force, to go back as a Special Forces operative. Kane is once again recruited by the goverment, to work for them as a long range sniper specialist. Armed, and furious, he is ready to bring justice where it belongs.

I don´t know if you heard Steven Seagals 2 pop albums, but i bet he is a better musician than an actor. In fact, when Seagal gets screen time, you wonder if he will ever change. He wants too look cool, and try and make special moves, but with no results. Is there action ? Yes, but the action scenes are made of a budget, about the size of Donald Trump´s hairpiece. The story ? Is there actually a story ? Not really, this is very simple action made for mommy boys, still living at home at the age of 39. Seagal will make movies like this for at least 22 years more, so if you love his cheesy moves, then this might give you an orgasm. For the rest of us, i suggest we watch The Expendables instead, and enjoy some real action, just the way it was meant to be.

Total Recall

Arnold Schwarznegger is a legend. For his acting ? Not really....hum hum, but hey, he knows how to make good action. Have he ever done a movie where he actually did a decent acting job ? Actually, yes. If you have seen the sci fi action classic movie Total Recall from 1990, i think you might agree that Schwarznegger did a good job. This is one of director Paul Verhoven´s best motion pictures, and an icon movie in the sci fi genre for some very original ideas. Now 22 years later we have a remake, and since it has taken a long time to make a remake, you might wonder if this is a worthy remake to such a classic movie ? This time around we have Colin Farrell on board as Douglas Quaid, but does it matter we have a good actor, or is this fresh update of Total Recall doomed to fail ?

World War 3 devastated earth, where only 2 parts of the world are habitable. United Federation of Britain and the Colony ( Australia ). Society is a mess, where people are trying to survive. Factory worker Douglas Quaid ( Colin Farrell ) is happily married to Lori ( Kate Beckinsale ). For quite some time, he have been curious to try Rekall, a company that implants artificial memories. Douglas locate Rekall, as he meets Rekall employee McClane ( John Cho ). McClane suggest he choose to be implated with a memory of a secret agent. Douglas agree, and the process begin. While checking Douglas history on screen, McClane notice something is wrong. Douglas have real memories of being a spy, as a SWAT team storms the building. Douglas manage to survive, but what happened ? Is this just an artificial memory, or reality ? As he go back home to meet wife Lori, he is attacked by her. Nothing is what it seems, Douglas is now considered a fugitve and very dangerous. Is he really a secret agent in real life, or is this all just a dream?

First thing first. The remake of Total Recall is nowhere near as good as the original movie. Is this still a fun ride ? Yes, for the most part. When it comes to action, Total Recall deliver a lot of stylish action, where you both get some classic elements and some fresh details. One problem i have is Colin Farrell, i usually love his acting, but here it feels like he lost his way. But don´t worry, this is an elegant action movie, packed with some really cool technical scenes. So even if Colin is not at the highlight of his career, Total Recall gives the audience a good time. I was kind of hoping that Peter Stormare would show up as a russian ganster, that would have been a fun detail in this crazy world of survivors.

The Bourne Legacy

I really enjoyed the 3 Jason Bourne movies with Matt Damon. Intelligent action thrillers with a lot to say, and the best part was, the sequels were better than the original movie, that does not happen very often. Matt Damon is no longer Jason Bourne, but it looks like Bourne series have chance to continue, with the character Jason Bourne included, but now with a new character, Alex Cross. Without Matt Damon on board, is The Bourne Legacy a worthy sequel to a very good film series, or a big let down?

Alex Cross ( Jeremy Renner ) is a member of Operation Outcome. He is send to Alaska on a training assignment. He is told to survive certain activities in the rough weather conditions. Alex arrives to a cabin operated by Number Three, an exiled Outcome Operative, who inform Alex about what is going on, and when he needs to leave. Just as Alex is ready to head off into the forest, a strange noise is coming from the trees. A missile hits the cabin, killing Number Three. This is no coincidence , someone wanted Alex dead. Former U.S. Air Force colonel Eric Bryer ( Edward Norton ), have accepted a mission from CIA director Ezra Kramer ( Scott Glenn ),  to kill all the agents out in Operation Outcome, because there is a risk secret informtion may be revealed, that would be a disaster. Alex is now on his own, and have to find a way out.

Even if The Bourne Legacy is not as good as the previous 3 Bourne movies, this is still a good action thriller for us who likes this genre. Jeremy Renner makes a good first impression as Alex Cross, both hard hitting and knows how to deliver good acting. I have a feeling this is a good start on the new Bourne stories, that something even better is about to come in the next sequel. Not much too complain about, this is exactly what your dad wants to watch after a football game and enjoy an ice cold beer. Let´s not forget that legendary actor Stacy Keach is here also, great to see him still going strong, even if he has aged.

The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 2

I still can´t belive how big Twilight is. Twilight is like one of the biggest movie hits of all time, and i still don´t understand why. Is this a virus that was spread out from a medical company, so all girls and women got infected, and was forced to love this ? That sounds pretty believable, but hold on, maybe Breaking Dawn Part 2 will change my mind. Maybe this is the movie of the Twilight Saga that will show me why this is so good. Is it the best movie yet from Twilight Saga, or is this still what i could imagine it would be ?

Bella wakes up as a vampire
Carlise monitor Renesmee grow
Aro feels Renesmee poses a risk
Jacob never change his hairstyle

Alrighty then, i gave you alot of details here.

You know, so many scientist and different cultures talk about the worlds end is coming. My opinion is, the end of the world begun when Twilight came in 2008. Honestly, if Twilight was never made into movies from the author Stephenie Meyer, we might have been able to save the world. Now, it is too late. Thankfully The Twilight Saga is over, for now. There are rumours about rebooting the series. What do i feel about this ? Just about as exciting as seeing Kikki Danielsson in a g string, i think that says it all. Is Breaking Dawn Part 2 any better than Part 1 ? Yes, 2 %, but that does not matter, this is still worthless. The only positive part is the final action scene, but does it make this a good movie ? Not in any way, this is still shit. I know this will be one of the biggest movie box office hits of 2012, but i honestly dont care. Twilight will forever be a turd, in every possible way. And best part is, no more Taylor Lautner without a shirt, holy shit....i actually have something to be happy about.

Lawless

Alcohol. It can make life wonderful, make good memories, but also give us tragedy. One thing is certain, without alcohol, life would be very dull in my opinion. Just leave problems behind for a while, and enjoy life. Lawless is a original story about moonshine sellers, and the problem with law, back in a time when people where poor. The cast list is impressive, Shia LaBeouf, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce and Jason Clarke. Is Lawless the next generation of The Untouchables, or is the surface too polished for it´s own good?

1931, Franklin County, Virginia. 3 brothers Jack ( Shia Labeouf ), Howard ( Jason Clarke ) and Forrest ( Tom Hardy ) run a successfull moonshine business. To keep the business going without problems with the law, they are helped by their friend Cricket Pate ( Dane DeHaan. Everything is going as planned. But one day Jack is a witness when mobster Floyd Banner ( Gary Oldman ), murder a competitor. At the Cricket bar Special Deputy Charley Rakes ( Guy Pearce ) wants to make a deal, he wants a cut of all profit made by the country´s bootleggers. Forrest does not agree and threaten to kill him if he visits again. The 3 brothers have now started a war, where their lives are at stake.

The best part of Lawless is the time perspective. The locations with the 1930 costumes looks great. The biggest problem with Lawless is the very very slow scenes. There are moments some scenes are so slow, it´s easy to fall asleep. Thankfully we get some nice violence scenes, especially when Guy Pearce gets his screen time. He is one tough bastard. If you love historical movies, you might enjoy Lawless for it´s good looks. The acting is pretty good most of the time. But the slow scenes gets annoying at moments, and that is a shame. In the long run, Lawless is a historical drama still worth watching. I can´t think of many movies that talks about moonshine in the 1930´s, by the way, the music fits perfect with the forests of Virginia. Come to think of it, i might have a glass of rum after watching Lawless, it´s easy to get thirsty.

ParaNorman

Animated movies have always entertained audiences of all ages, there are so many classics from Disney, Dreamworks, Pixar,  and other animation studios. You can do almost anything with animation, and use your imagination to create anything. When it comes to horror, there are not many animated movies that have tried combine classic horror elements with animation ( don´t even think of Scooby Doo, that´s a complete different story ). ParaNorman looks like a mix of horror and comedy with a different approach. From the company Laika, that brought us the classic horror animated Coraline, is ParaNorman a fun surprise, or an example of too many ideas brought together ?

In the small town Blithe Hollow, lives a young boy named Norman Babcock. He looks like an ordinary boy, but he have a special gift. He is able to speak with the dead. Since no one believes him, people make fun of him, and his parents feel like Norman needs to be more normal. In school he is a bully victim. But he manage to find a new friend, Neil Downe, an overweight boy who is bullied himself. Norman does not want Neil to think he is crazy, when he reveals he can talk to dead people. Neil just think this is cool. Norman´s deranged uncle Mr. Prenderghast visit Norman to tell him, he needs Norman´s help. Norman refuse to take his uncle seriously. Not long after Mr. Prenderghast dies in his home. While Norman and Neil are part of a school play, Norman have a vision of terrible things are about to happen. The school play is ruined, as Norman runs to the restroom. There he is visited by his dead uncle Mr. Prenderghast. He tells Norman that only he can perform a ritual, with a special book, that day before sunrise, or it will be too late. Not knowing what to belive, Norman head off in search for the book, and to find out what is going on.

I loved Coraline, that animated movie had something original about the story and the characters, as well as the design. ParaNorman may not be as original, but don´t worry. You will laugh, a lot. This is a really funny story, and a very clever tribute to horror movies, in animation of high quality. Think about this mixture, The Sixth Sense + Night Of The Living Dead + The Goonies = ParaNorman. Does that sound possible ? Yes, in some ways. This is a mixture of different classic movies, especially from the 80´s, with some different elements mixed together to please both kids and adults. I would not recommend the smallest kids to see this, there are zombies who have their body part ripped off. But this is what makes ParaNorman special, even if this is an animated children movie, we are served with some great horror entertainment, that usually never work in animated features. Coraline is still one of my favourite animated movies ever, even if Pixar did not make it. But close to this one, i would have to say ParaNorman is second, great entertainment for the whole family.

The Tall Man

Jessica Biel gives a lot of guys a hard on for sure. Come on, i know most of you love her looks. I  am sure there are girls out there also who think :- I would love to have a hot shower with her. It´s in our nature, simple as that. When it comes to Jessica Biel movies, she sure choose different types of movies. Sometimes she deliver, sometimes she make a bad choice, just like most actors do. It will be interesting to se her in the new movie, based on Alfred Hitchcock, also starring Anthony Hopkings. So now let´s focus on The Tall Man, a mystery thriller about missing children. Is it possible The Tall Man is a new chapter on Jessica Biel´s acting skills, or is this simply too easy to forget about?

Julia Denning ( Jessica Biel ) lives in the small of Cold Rock, working as the local nurse. She have a son named David ( Jakob Davies ). This used to be a mining town, but the whole town is falling apart. No jobs left, no schools, no future. But there is one thing happening in Cold Rock. Children have disappeared for many years, and vanished completely. Parents all over town are devastated, who wants to find out where they are. There are people who say they have seen The Tall Man, who is responsible for the abductions. One night, after having a few drinks with a female friend in Julias home, she falls asleep in her sofa. As she wakes up, her friend is tied up, and Julias son is gone. She runs out and see someone carrying David into a van. Julia manages to hang on to the backdoor of the van as the mysterious person drives off. As she tries to stop the van, she is badly injured and left on the road. Someone manage to find her lying on the highway, and manage to help her. Where is David now and who is this Tall Man?

Thankfully the story gets more complicated along the way, and there is a different side of what really happened. And that is what saves The Tall Man from failing. You see, in different parts of the movie, director Pascal Laugier tries to take different turns, that makes things more complicated. It´s a good idea, but it does not work in the final run. Jessica Biel does a good perfomance, i can´t complain about her effort. But there is something missing here, that is a shame. The Tall Man had potential to be a good thriller, there are some good scenes, but that does not help when we have some problems. I suggest you see Pascal Laugier french horror movie Martyrs from 2008, here he proved that he can do a intelligent horror movie.

Arbitrage

Say the name Richard Gere, and most women will think of Pretty Woman. Even if i am not a big fan of Richard Gere, i did enjoy The Mothman Prophecies. It was a very different choice for mr Gere, not his usual genre. Let´s not forget The Flock, a really good thriller. He is a good actor, when he finds the right character. Arbitrage is the latest motion picture with this legendary actor, that also looks different from his usual choice. Is Arbitrage something worth checking out, or for fans of mr Gere only ?

Robert Miller ( Richard Gere ) is a billionaire hedge fund manager, who is a very respected businessman. There is just one problem. His daughter Brooke Miller ( Brit Marling ) finds out her dad is not doing business in a legal way. If she told someone what he have done, he could be convicted for fraud. Robert manage to keep his daughter quite, but there is one more problem left. One night, Robert drives with his mistress Julie Cote ( Laetitia Casta ) on the highway, and end up in a car accident. Julie dies, and Robert escapes from the location the car accident accured. He calls a friend to help him home, and begin to cover up the story so no one knows what happened. Detective Bryer ( Tim Roth ) investigates the death of Julie, and he gets more interested in Robert and his successfull life.

Financial thillers in the business world may not sound interesting. But i have to say Arbitrage is a very solid thriller, where Richard Gere may have done his best role ever in motion pictures. Really ? Yes, he is simply fantastic as the greedy Robert Miller, who will do anything for money, no matter what the price is. When he let his anger out, you can see the destructive behavior within his soul, knowing he could loose everything. Susan Sarandon as Robert Miller´s wife delivers a very solid performance also, she and Gere have some really well acted scenes together, as their marriage is on the way straight to hell. Director Nicholas Jarecki have not directed more than 2 movies before Arbitrage, but considering how good he is to catch the feeling of true cinema magic, i really hope to see more from him in the future, Make sure you go see Arbitrage in a cinema near you, you dont see acting as good as this very often nowdays.

Sinister

A lot of horror movies are on the way, another remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a new Evil Dead movie, Silent Night ( a remake of the 1984 classic horror movie Silent Night, Deadly Night ), and many more. But when it comes to original horror movies, i can´t say we have that many titles coming our way. So when i read about Sinister, before the trailer was released, i got really excited. This seemed to be exactly what we need, an original horror movie, with elements from classic movies, but still with an original plot. And with Ethan Hawke in the leading role, i kind of felt that this could go all the way to a touchdown. Question is, does Sinister hold such high quality, or is the hype too big too be true ?

Crime novelist Ellison Oswalt ( Ethan Hawke ) is moving into a house were a family were hung in the backyard tree. His wife Tracy ( Juliette Rylance ) and their two kids Ashley ( Clare Foley ) and Trevor ( Michael Hall D´Addario ) are ready to start a new life in this house. Ellison begins to investigate what facts there is around the family murder. In the attic, he happen to find a box, which contains a projector and several reels of Standard 8mm footage. He begins to watch the home recorded movies, but the more movies he watch, the more disturbing they get. And it seems this is not the first family murder, every movie contains a different family brutally murdered in different ways. A strange figure is seen in every movie, with a very special look. Ellison digs deeper in who this figure is, and a strange symbol seen on different places. The more Ellison digs into the truth, he is about to find out something more disturbing than he ever could have imagined.

Look, just listen people. Forget about Twilight at this moment, because i know that´s what most people talk about right now. Sinster is so damn good, this movie destroys every Twilight movie in every possible way. The acting is really good, especially from Ethan Hawke, he knows exactly what he is doing on screen. The atmosphere is creepy, and the sound ? I just love the creepy sound effects, they make Sinister feel much more darker and scary. And the scenes with the 8mm home made movies gives you a pleasent journey, in many disturbing ways. Director Scott Derrickson deserves an academy award for best director, he really gives us a horror movie of very high quality, and a very clever plot put together. Sinister may be simple in some ways, but a very effective cinema experience. Make sure you go see this one in cinema, and support real horror productions in high quality.

The Cold Light Of Day

The first Die Hard movie is one of the best action movies ever made.  It´s one of the few action movies who both have an intelligent plot, a well written script and also really clever action scenes. And of course, Bruce Willis delivers a very solid performance as John McClane. The action genre is perfect for mr Bruce, he knows what the audience wants ( most of the time ), and he have a good sense of humour. I have seen the trailer of Die Hard 5, i will probably see it, even if i feel that it´s getting a bit too much. Director Mabrouk el Mechri surprised the world when he showed a whole new Jean Claude Van Damme, in the movie JCVD. Critics praised the movie, especially saying this is the best role Jean Claude have ever done. The Cold Light Of Day is a different kind of movie from the french tunisian director, is this a step in the right direction for Mabrouk el Mechri, or did he make a bad choice ?

Will Shaw ( Henry Cavill ) is on his way to his parents in Spain, to celebrate a vacation with them and his brother. His father Martin Shaw ( Bruce Willis ) is very happy that Will came down on vacation, so they can have a family moment on their boat. While sailing on the ocean, Will is too busy on his phone, he fails to control the boat, so his brothers girlfriend gets hurt. Martin is furious and throws Will´s phone in the ocean. They argue for a while, as Will decide to swim into land, to get medecine for the wounded girl. As he prepare himself to swim back, the boat is gone. He begins looking around, until he finds the boat, swim onboard. But everyone is gone, no sign of life. Will tries to contact police, desperate in need of help. Something is not right, as police seems to know what really happened. And suddenly Will´s dad turns up, out of nowhere, who have kept a secret from Will in a long time.

The Cold Light Of Day have been panned by most movie critics, and i can understand why. The story is not very fresh, the acting have flaws, but if you enjoy well made action, then this might work for the moment. To see Bruce Willis on screen with Sigourney Weaver is great, almost like going back to the 80´s all over again, even if they don´t have much screen time together. I have seen Bruce Willis act much better before than here, but he manage to keep us interested since you never get bored here. The Cold Light Of Day is almost a tribute to action movies from the 80´s, simple but still fun to watch. What about leading actor Henry Cavill ? Nothing special, but does a pretty decent job. Make your Chuck Norris pose infront of your tv screen, this is for action lovers who simply are fed up with Gossip Girl Season 16.

The Caller

Psychological thrillers have a way of intriguing the audience, especially if they have a well written story included, that shows the way of mental statements. I can think of quite many good titles out there, not only the most classic ones, but also some lower budget titles, that still had alot to say. When i saw the trailer of The Caller, i were curious. since this might actually look like something in my taste. In the final run, is The Caller worth the attention, or is this just another straight to dvd release easy to forget?

Mary Kee ( Rachelle Lefevre ) is divorced to her abusive ex-husband. She moves into her new apartment to begin a new life. She finds an old telephone that she loves, and plug it in. Not long after, she gets phone calls from someone who call herself Rose ( Lorna Raver ). She says she wants to talk to Bobby, and that Bobby knows Mary lives in this apartment. Mary try to ignore Rose, and just continue with her daily life. But when more phone calls from Rose become more threatening, Mary becomes worried what this woman really wants. One strange detail is that Rose claims it is the year 1979. Mary start investigating who this Rose is, and why she is doing this?

I am surprised. The Caller is a suspenseful thriller, where you need to decide, what is really going on here ? The best part is that director Matthew Parkhill, knows how to build an intelligent plot into the psychological perspective. Forget that Rachelle Lefevre were in the 2 first Twilight movies, this is where she proves her acting talent. Another detail i enjoy is the phone call scenes, when Rose calls to talk about Bobby. You never get bored listening to this strange woman in the phone, she is really creepy.  The movie have been out for quite some time on dvd/blu ray, since april, but make sure you rent it, online or in your local video store, it´s worth checking out. Just make sure to turn off the lights infront off your tv, to get the true feeling of watching The Caller, thrilled to your seat.

Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines

The mutated hillbillies are back. They always seem to find a way to return, even if most of them are butchered in different ways. In 2003, when the first Wrong Turn movie came out, it turned out to be a nice slasher for old school horror fans. But when the 2nd movie came out, i liked it even more than the first one, that does not happen very often. Then more sequels came out, but didnt give me the same feeling. The 5th time around, is Wrong Turn back on track, or is it worse than we could have imagined?

Billy ( Simon Ginty ), his girlfriend Cruz ( Amy Lennox ), and some of their close friends, are heading to celebrate the Mountain Main Festival. Sheriff Angela Carter ( Camilla Arwfedson ) stop them, suspecting they have drugs on them. Billy confess, and is kept locked up, while the other are let out into town. But a gang of cannibal hillbillies are on their way to town, to find new victims to feed on.

Now i am pissed....and i am serious

What the fuck is this? Wrong Turn 5 is so bad i want to punch director Declan O´Brien for destroying the concept of Wrong Turn. The makeup is horrible, the flesh scenes are terrible, and the acting ? Holy shit, they must have been found at the local food store in Virginia. No, avoid this shit at any cost.

God Bless America

When i first read this movie title, i thought this may be 2 things.

1. A patriotic war movie, where America show the world why they are the greatest nation

2. A religious movie, about the love for Jesus in America

But it looks like i was out on deep water. God Bless America is a dark comedy, that seems to have a very unique story on it´s hands. And what if i told you Bob Goldthwait ( known as Zed in Police Academy movies ), directed this ? This looks promising on paper, is God Bless America a step into a fresh direction in movies, or is this just too good to be true?

Frank Murdoch ( Joel Murray ) works in New York as an insurance salesman. He is so sick of how the world is becoming, he feels a change is needed. His ex-wife Alison ( Melinda Page Hamilton ) has custody of their spoiled young daughter Awa ( Mackenzie Brooke Smith ), who hates everyone because she got a Blackberry as a birthday present, and not an iphone. Frank finds out he has a terminal brain tumor by his doctor, and his depression becomes even deeper. So, he decides to travel to Virginia, to kill a spoiled reality tv teen diva named Chloe ( Maddie Hasson ), that he watched on tv, and hates her so much. He kills her infront of her school, but a girl named Roxanne Harmon ( Tara Lynne Barr ), is so happy about what Frank did, she wants to hang out with him, because he did something great. Frank don´t know what to belive, but as they get to know each other, a special friendship grows along the way.

Trust me on this. Most swedes will not love this movie, like i do. Because it´s sick, has a very dark sense of humor, and does not fit most peoples taste. That´s why i love God Bless America, the story hits you right in the face, like you get a bitch slap, and fall down into the ground. I can relate to many things this character Frank feels, that doesnt necessary mean i would do the same things, i like to think im still pretty normal. This movie reminds me of Joel Schumacher´s classic 1993 movie Falling Down, that is still today one of my favourite movies. Falling Down had a lot of dark comedy, but still had a lot of serious moments very cleverer put together. Even if there are some things that looks similar to Falling Down, there are still alot of original scenes that deliver a very high quality of cinema moments. Like the scene where Frank shoot reality tv diva Chloe in the head in her school, because he is so sick of diva bitches, such a fantastic scene. Or when Frank´s biggest fan Roxy ask him :- Who are you killing next, my gym teacher, Twilight fans ? as she is happier than ever. It´s this kind of sick humor i love, nothing is normal, nothing is what is suppposed to be correct. Bob Goldtwaiht is an excellent director, and this movie should have had more publicity than it got. Support God Bless America and buy a dvd, movies like this are needed in a world of false people who are greedy and think of money.

Resident Evil : Damnation

It´s amazing how popular Resident Evil is, both in video games and the feature movies with Milla Jovovich. The story of  Umbrella Corporation and their experiments worked very well in the video games, when it comes to the feature movies, i think we all have different opinions on the results. I personally enjoyed movie number 3 quite alot, Resident Evil: Extinction, for a different approach, like a mix of Mad Max and zombie action. Then in 2008, came the animated movie Resident Evil: Degeneration, a quite ambitious animated movie that entertained me. Now, we have a new animated Resident Evil movie in our hands, does Resident Evil: Damnation have what it takes to please fans, or is this just a product to make more money?

In the Eastern Slav Republic, Leon is send in to verify rumors that Bio-Organic Weapons, that are being used in the country's civil war. Leon is kidnapped during a fight with a Licker creature. Waking up in a basement, with tied hands, Leon meets 3 rebel fighters. They want answers why Leon has come here from Usa. Meanwhile,  President Svetlana Belikova meets Ada Wong, who is a member of BSAA. She have information on how to control BOW´S, if the use Plaga parasites. Leon is let loose, as he head inside a underground tunnel. He meets rebel fighter MJ in the tunnel, and rescue him. On their way inside the city, hell is one step closer to reality.

If you are hoping for a Pixar movie, then you will be disappointed. The animation is not that good, but on the other hand, for being an animated zombie movie, the final results give us zombie addicts a good time. Resident Evil: Damnation is the perfect saturday morning movie at the breakfast table, reminds me of Saturday cartoons with my sister back in the 90´s when we had so many foreign cartoon tv channels. Difference is that here we get more violence and more dialogue. The story looks good, with nice details of the old Eastern Slav Republic, filled with different details based on the games. Worth a watch if you´re tired of cozy children cartoons, and want to see some real dark animation.

Skyfall

The whole world knows his name. I am pretty sure most of you have seen at least 3 James Bond movies in your life. He is an icon for England and the agency concept, that has lived on since Sean Connery made his debut with Dr No. James Bond is the kind of character that lives on in every generation, no matter what movie is your favourite, or who the best Bond is, he makes a strong impact on the audience. I have seen every Bond movie, and even if i don´t like all of them, it´s a tradition to see every new one, too see if they keep the concept together, like Connery did back in his days. Skyfall is the latest James Bond movie, where Daniel Craig returns to once again save the world. This time around, does Skyfall take mr Bond to a whole new level, or is this the end of an icon?

On a mission in Turkey, MI6 agents James Bond ( Daniel Craig ) and Eve ( Naomie Harris ), are on a mission to recover a hard drive, stolen from a murdered MI6 agent. The hard drive is gone, but James Bond and Eve locate mercenary Patrice ( Ola Rapace ) and chase him. After a long chase, Eve is ordered to fire a shot, while Patrice is fighting mr Bond on a train. She misses, as James Bond is shot and falls down in a waterfall. James Bond is declared dead, as MI6 take care of all of his belongings. The Intelligence and Security Committee give M ( Judi Dench ) 2 months left to work, then she has to retire. On her way back to MI6, the building is triggered by a bomb. Several agents dies, and many wounded. She finds out Bond is still alive, hiding on a tropical island, as he hears the news of MI6. He returns to London to find who is responsible, but his health issues have problems. M still feel Bond can pull this off, and send him, even if his tests fails. James Bond manage to find out that former MI6 agent Raoul Silva ( Javier Bardem ) is responsible for the attack on MI6, as he begin his hunt for justice.

I read a couple reviews after the premiere of Skyfall, and almost all of the reviewers praised this movie. And guess what, so do i. This may be the best James Bond movie for....i have no idea, it´s so good i left with a smile on my face. Especially the villain Javier Bardem, he is simply fantastic as the psychotic Raoul Silva, who have no limits of brutality. Usually Bond villains don´t really leave an impact, but Javier steals the show almost every time he gets screen time. Daniel Craig once again deliver a solid James Bond performance, he is simply one of the best James Bond actors ever. Let´s not forget the new Q ( Ben Whishaw ), now this looks promising if he stays as Q in the next Bond movie, he is charming, have a sense of british humor, and look like a science nerd, simply a perfect combination. Director Sam Mendes directed one of the best drama movies of the 90´s called American Beauty. Now, in 2012, he may have done one of the best James Bond movies ever. I strongly hope Sam Mendes jumps on the next Bond movie to direct again ( Yes they revealed James Bond Will Return in the end credits ). After watching Skyfall, i feel like dressing up in a nice suit, pour up a martini and just glide at a casino, James Bond is still magical after all these years.

Safe

Jason Statham is one tough son of a bitch. Almost every movie he release includes lots of bullets and lots of violence. He knows what he is good at, action movies, thankfully he has not tried drama so far, he knows his limits. Safe looks no different from his other movies, except alot more asians than usual. Will Safe keep Statham´s fanbase, or have he ran out of ideas?

Luke Wright ( Jason Statham ) was a famous boxer, until he damaged a fighter so bad, he had to quit. While Luke tries to work things out, a chinese girl Mei ( Catherine Chang ) is kidnapped by the Triads, since they say she is a genius in math. The Triads have a plan to follow, and with Mei they feel it might actually work. Luke is living like a homeless, ready to kill himself in the subway, until he meets Mei. She escaped from russian mob, and as well from the Triads. On the run, she finds help from Luke. With the Triads and russians on their trail, Luke knows he can´t hide everywhere until this is over.

This isnt Statham´s best action movie, but it´s entertaining enough. especially if you love hard hitting action. And the Triad scenes, where they only speak chinese for the most part, gives you a different perspective on crimes within family. If there is one problem with Safe, it would be the lack of original ideas. Safe follows a certain pattern, that we have seen so many times before. But, thankfully we dont have to get tired after 90 minutes, since Statham knows what we crave as action lovers. Don´t expect to be surprised, just take Safe for what it is, and im sure you will have a good time.

The Last Coast Tapes

If you asked my dad about aliens and ghosts, he would tell you stories you thought only could be seen in the cinema. Do i belive the same things as him ? No, maybe im not open minded, or maybe i try and live in real life. People seem to belive in many different stories, Loch Ness beast, abductions by aliens....and so on. Bigfoot is one of those stories i read about as a teen, i have seen the so called video proof, that some say is fake and some say it´s real. Remember the 90´s box office hit The Blair Witch Project ? What if you mix Blair Witch with Bigfoot ? Yes, it´s another documentary filmed horror movie, but does The Lost Coast Tapes give anything fresh, or is this just another found footage project doomed too fail ?

Sean Reynolds ( Drew Rausch ) and his friends, have an idea. A new documentary about if they can find evidence that Bigfoot is alive. They head out to a forest area in northern California, to meet Bigfoot hunter Carl Drybeck ( Frank Ashmore ), who agrees to be interviewed. As the interview begins, strange noises can be heard in the night, as the film team tries to find out what is going on.

I love low budget horror, if it´s made effectively and is well written. The Lost Coast Tapes could have been interesting, but the lack of ideas make this a pretty boring experience. The acting is ok for the most part, it´s just the story itself is too easy to become interesting. If you want to make people interested in a legendary story, you need to deliver something the audience can appreciate.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

Horror movies can easily get stuck in the same pattern. If you think about it, how many sequels look just like the original movie ? Thankfully some directors try to make a different combination of classic characters. Remember Freddy VS Jason ? It may not be fantastic, but a fun mix of old school horror characters, brought together on the big screen, to please both fans of A Nightmare On Elm Street and Friday The 13th. So, when i read about Abraham Lincoln fighting vampires, my first thought was....brilliant. Here we have a fun idea, let´s just hope it works on paper. So the question is, does Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter feel like a real movie, or is this just a big mess?

In the year 1818, a young boy named Abraham Lincoln ( Benjamin Walker ), works at a plantation with his parents. The owner Jack Barts ( Marton Csokas ) is a cruel man, who decide to beat a young african boy William Johnson ( Anthony Mackie ). But Abraham tries to stop Jack from the abuse. Because Abraham choosed to interfere, Jack Barts fires Abrahams dad from his job. That night, as Abraham is lying awake, he watches Jack Barts enter their home, attacking his mother. It turns out he is a vampire. Abraham wants revenge, as he waits for a moment 9 years later, things still don´t go right. He is almost killed by Jack, until Henry Sturges ( Dominic Cooper ) saves his life. Henry himself is a vampire, who also seeks revenge on those who killed his wife, but....a vampire can not kill his own kind, there for he needs Abrahams help. Armed with a special designed axe, Abraham begins to slay vampires , hoping to kill his mothers murderer one day.

First thing that comes to mind while watching Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, is how well the time area is captured in the 1800´s. The axe is a fun combination of classic weapon, but also a shotgun indeed, that gives you a good laugh. Director Timur Bekmambetov made the russian vampire movies Night Watch and Day Watch, that became big hits in Russia for a good reason. They had a fresh perspective on the vampire genre, still with some classic ingredients. When he takes on Abraham Lincoln, a historical president as a vampire hunter, he actually find a good balance between history and the vampire genre. We both get to laugh, and enjoy some really bloody scenes. Sure there are flaws, like some of the cgi effects look a bit sloppy sometimes, but overall i enjoyed this combination. Great to see some still try a different aproach in a genre that´s been stuck in a long time.

The Avengers

I was a comic book reader for quite many years in my youth. It was an escape, to a world where anything could happen. Comic book characters have become very popular, not only in comic books, but in movie adaptions of the characters. So, if you would take a whole gang of superheroes, and throw them all together in one movie, would that work ? The Avengers have so many comic book characters, you would wonder if it´s possible to make them all fit on one movie. Will The Avengers please comic book lovers, or is this too much too handle on the big screen ?

Loki ( Tom Hiddleston ) encounters The Other, to make a deal. In exchange for retrieving the Tesseract, The Other promise to bring him an army to destroy the Earth. Nick Fury ( Samuel L Jackson ) and his lieutenant Agent Marial Hill ( Cobie Smulders ) arrives at the facility where the Tesseract is located. But it´s too late, the Tesseract opens a gate and let Loki out into our world. Loki takes the Tesseract and enslave physicist Dr. Erik Selvig ( Stellan Skarsgård ) and other workers to follow his orders. Nick Fury  reactivates the "Avengers Initiative ", and try to locate Captain America ( Chris Evans ), Iron Man ( Robert Downey Jr ), and The Hulk ( Mark Ruffalo ). He request the team to stop the portal from bringing The Other´s army to the Earth . Thor arrives to try and convince his brother to stop this madness, but Loki will not change his mind.

It doesnt really matter if youre not a comic book fan, The Avengers have something for everyone, especially if you love lots of massive action. Some of the fight scenes are so cool, it´s hard not to applaud infront of the tv set. The biggest surprise is how good Robert Downey Jr is this time, since i were disappointed with his performance in Iron Man 2. He is way more fun here, and find a good balance in his character. Mark Ruffalo tries to give David Banner a soft personality, but i actually find him pretty dull, until he transform into The Hulk, then we get something worth waiting for. Most of the comic book characters have some really great scenes together, like when Thor and Iron Man fight in a forest, now that is a heavy scene. As a comic book adaption to the big screen, The Avengers works very well, and looks damn good with all the cgi effects. This is a comic book feast for all ages, there is no doubt you will be entertained.

Hypnotisören ( The Hypnotist )

Lasse Hallström is one of the few swedish directors who made a big career in Hollywood, with different results. 25 years ago, before he made his big break through in America, he directed the swedish classic Mitt Liv Som Hund ( My Life As A Dog ), a movie that gave him alot of praise from audience and critics. I were surprised to find out he returned to Sweden to make a swedish thriller, since he mostly done american drama movies over the years. With Hallström back in his home country, is The Hypnosist a nice surprice, or a big let down?

A whole family is found brutally murdered, where one of the victims is found alive, in critical condition. Criminal inspector Joona Linna ( Tobias Zilliacus ) tries to find out what happened that night, by hoping to get information from the surviving victim Josef ( Jonathan Bökman ). But his condition makes it difficult for him to speak, so hospital doctor Daniella ( Helena Af Sandberg ) have an idea, she knows a professional hypnosist Erik Maria Bark ( Mikael Persbrandt ), who helped victims before. Inspector Joona contats hypnosist Erik, as he agrees to help the victim. But when he succeeds to get connected with the victim, everything is not what it seems.

I would not call The Hypnotist anything special, its a thriller drama with a lot of psychological perspective. But what makes this work, is the acting. Lena Olin as the wife of Persbrandt gives a well made performace, and i can´t complain about Persbrandt either, he is way better here than in Hamilton 2. The pussle itself is not anything unique, but all together The Hypnosist delivers a small positive surprise, from a director that have not done anything here in Sweden for so many years. If you love psychological thrillers with more story than special effects, this may be what you are looking for. And that The Hypnotist have been selected as Best Foreign Movie at the Oscars 2013, were not expected. Let´s just hope they win, i can´t remember the last time we sent a good swedish movie to the Annual Academy Awards.

The Raven

I absolutely love From Hell, where Johnny Depp investigated the murders by Jack The Ripper. This were one of those old fashioned crime thrillers made like a handicraft production, with perfect scenery and the right feeling of the 1800´s dark era. Every year most movie studios release costume dramas for romantic musical dreamers. Not often do we see something like From Hell, with a darker perspective, make it to a big screen. But maybe that is about to change right now. The Raven, based on the writer Edgar Allan Poe, looks like something equal to From Hell, with a different story. Is it posible The Raven is a production worth your attention, or were the expectations too big to make reality?

A mother and a daughter is found brutally murdered in Baltimore. Police begin an investgation, where Detective Emmett Fields ( Luke Evans ) finds clues to the murders have been staged as from stories from writer Edgar Allan Poe ( John Cusack ). Detective Emmett contacts Edger Allan Poe to help them with their investigation, since the killer seem to follow his stories. When critic Rufus Griswold ( John Warnaby ), Edgar´s rival, is found brutally butchered, Edgar realise he needs to think of what the next victim could be, since every victim is connected to his writing. Captain Hamilton´s ( Brendan Gleeson ) annual masquerade ball, ends in chaos, when his daughter Emily Hamilton ( Alice Eve ), is kidnapped by the murderer. While police search for Emily, more bodies are found. But the more Edgar try to understand who is behind all of this, the closer he may be to the answer than he ever could have imagined.

Ok, it´s not as good as From Hell. But still, i enjoy The Raven for trying to bring old fashioned crime thrillers back on track, as John Cusack does one of his best roles for a long time. It´s quite funny that director James McTeigue is behind the camera, who directed Star Wars Episode 2 : The Clone Wars, talk about changing genres. And most suprisingly is that he does a good job to deliver a solid thriller. A lot of dark scenery helps the story build up tentions, very effective. Not so much negative to say, The Raven is a nice surprise and works well on a cold rainy night, perfect for a snack moment.

Bullhead

Belgium is a country i always wanted to visit. And actually i have plans for next year, since i really enjoyed visiting Holland, Amsterdam was a great city. When it comes to belgian movies, i have only seen a few. I remember enjoying Ben X, a belgian drama about a bully victim, who found a way to escape reality through video games. Bullhead is a critically acclaimed motion picture, who won several awards on different film festivals. With so much positive reactions around this movie, is Bullhead something extrodinary, or is the hype too big?

Jacky Vanmarsenille ( Matthias Schoenaerts ) lives on his dads farm, working as a cattle farmer. His family have been involved for many years in doing illegal business with animal steroids. When Jacky was a young boy, a group of other boys crushed his testicles with a rock. The family behind the boy behind this tries to keep this quiet. Now as an adult, Jacky can´t forget about the past. He use steroids to ease the pain, and sorrow. Police starts to investigate a murder of an federal police man, with connections to the illegal meat market. But that´s not the only problem. Jacky´s mood shifts extremely negative, to the side effext from the steroids. He wants to revenge what happened to him all those years ago, and see no other way out.

I think i might have a new favourite actor on my list. Matthias Schoenaerts is completely brilliant as the steroids junkie Jacky, who see no future, only misery and pain. When he starts to let the anger out, i am completely shocked how well he brings this character to the big screen. Absolutely fantastic. The other side story of the illegal business doesn´t feel as interesting as the story of Jacky, that´s where the real power kicks in. Without Matthias Schoenaerts, Bullhead would not have made such a big impression as it does now. But still, this is a really good dark drama with much to say. Most people have probably heard about how some farmers use steroids on animals, but what if the farmer also use them on himself?  Interesting perspective, well acted all the way. Bullhead deserves to be seen, it´s one of those movies that will leave you with many thoughts.

Hamilton 2: Men Inte Om Det Gäller Din Dotter

When swedish actor Mikael Persbrandt took on the role as Intelligence officer Carl Hamilton, i was completely taken by suprise. I Nationens Intresse is a swedish action movie that actually delivered a good story, with great acting from Mikael Persbrandt. I saluted director Kathrine Windfeld for helping swedish cinema going in the right direction, after many terrible swedish releases. So when this sequel was on the way, i was hoping it would continue the legacy of Hamilton with such a good start last time. Is Hamilton: Men Inte Om Det Gäller Din Dotter a worthy sequel, or is this a step back to the usual pattern of swedish cinema?

Carl Hamilton´s goddaughter is kidnapped by muslim terrorists. The kidnappers demand a big amount of money if they will keep the girl alive. Hamilton and his team mates arrange a rescue operation.

Why? Why destroy something good while you had the chance to save swedish cinema? An actor like Mikael Persbrandt knows how to deliver, here he seems to care less about the character Hamilton, he only gets a few good scenes, but they are very few. If director Katherine Windfeld would have directed this time also, things might have been different. Now, we have director Tobias Falk who fucks it up. What could have been a good action story, is lost on the way, with too many flaws. The only positive scene is the rescue operation, where we at least get some real action. Hamilton 2: Men Inte Om Det Gäller Din Dotter is a failure in many ways, the only thing that saves this movie from falling apart is a few scenes with Persbrandt when he actually tries to give some kind of credibility. I know a third movie is on the way, let´s hope they make some big changes until then, or it might be too late.

The Raid: Redemption

Growing up in the video violence era of the 80´s, i remember how mad i was when Sweden cut movies almost 15 minutes shorter, because of video violence. To see the uncut vhs tape, you had to order from England or Usa, but cost a lot of money. Thankfully a videostore called Movieline in Gothenburgh sold uncut titles, this became my favourite movie store. One of my earlier memories was when i first watched John Woo´s classic The Killer. It was beautiful. 300 men becoming shot down with 4000 bullets, it was like watching a ballet performance, gone totally wrong, with so many emotional violence scenes, i just sat there smiling, like it was christmas eve. When i heard of The Raid: Redemption through The Totally Rad Show, i became very curious. There seemed to be a lot of violence, lots of weapons, lots of bullets, yes, everything you need. On the final result, does The Raid: Redemption give a steady kick in the nuts, or barely touch the surface?

A SWAT team led by Sergeant Jaka ( Joe Taslim ) and Lieutenant Wahyu, prepare themselves to make a raid, to take down the crime lord Tama Riyada ( Ray Sahetapy ), and his criminal network, in a big appartment building. Everything is going well, untill a young boy see the SWAT team, and sets the alarm. Now, hell has just begun, and the survivors of the SWAT team needs to find a way out, before everyone is executed.

Holy shit......now this is what i needed. The Raid: Redemption is Malou Von Siewers worst nightmare, this is pure action for a big screen, with so much violence, you jump of joy, just like you won a million dollars on a lottery ticket. And not only are the action scenes impressive, director Gareth Evans fills the scenes with really nice details, that give the simple story a lot to offer. It´s not often i watch Indosesian movies, maybe because not many of them are screened here in Sweden, or maybe i simply need to check more for new releases. Either way, i had a great time watching The Raid, took me straight back to the early John Woo movies, that you don´t see very often in these days. If you love full pumped up action, this is the one for you. I wonder if you can hire a SWAT team like this one to destroy every dvd of Something Borrowed...that would be a mission worth to follow.

Men In Black 3

It´s strange. Will Smith is one of the few actors in Hollywood who gets blockbuster hits almost every time. Maybe it´s his personality, his charisma. Even if his music career have been more quite, he seems to find his way back to the audience, no matter what he takes on. Men In Black became one of the biggest box office hits of 1997. and the critics loved the idea of an agency, who protect earth from evil aliens. I enjoyed the first movie, because Tommy Lee Jones was a good match to Will Smith, they are both very different personalities, what made it successfull. And the special effects delivered some highlights. When the second movie came out in 2002, i was not that happy about the sequel. The humour was not as good, the characters were not that impressive, as in the first movie. This third time around, is Men In Black back on track, or is this a turn in the wrong direction?

On the Earth´s moon, Boris The Animal escapes the prison LunarMax. Agent K ( Tommy Lee Jones ) put him in prison in the year 1969, that year Boris also lost his arm. Now, Boris wants to kill agent K by time travel back to 1969 and change the future. Agent J ( Will Smith ), finds out that Boris succeeded with his mission, K has now been dead for 40 years. To make everything back to how it used to be, agent J has to travel back and stop Boris from changing the future.

Im happy to say that Men In Black 3 is better than i expected. The comic timing is better, the aliens are cooler than last time, and Will Smith actually did a better performance this time around, including the young K ( James Brolin ), who actually works well as the younger agent in 1969. Director Barry Sonnenfeld makes sure we get the true feeling of Men In Black, as he both goes back to the original style, and also throw in time travelling in a clever way. Let´s not forget about the evil character Boris the Animal ( Jemaine Clement ), a funny and crazy alien who looks like a 78 year old Lorenzo Lamas on a bad hair day. Tommy Lee Jones keep his agent K stiff and precise about anything he does, and it still works well as it did back in 1997. If you loved the first movie i am pretty sure you will enjoy this one also. Nothing spectacular, but a fun ride, especially for sci fi fans.

Prometheus

In space no one can hear you scream. Just that line became classic back in 1979 when Ridley Scott gave us Alien, a movie that still today stands on its own, as a sci fi iconic motion picture. The sequels delivered different feelings, Aliens directed by James Cameron was amazing in many ways, never before have anyone made a sci fi movie with so much power and technical action with so fantastic details. By the time Alien 3 came out, a lot of changes were made, and the audience did not respond well. Most people have forgotten about Alien 4, and over the years there have been talking about a new Alien movie. Many directors had ideas, but did not complete them, or they felt it wouldnt work. When rumours started coming about Ridley Scott going back into the Alien franchise, fans were very pleased while some were sceptical. As the title Prometheus came out, Ridley Scott himself told us this is a story set earlier than Alien, but also a different story than Alien, with a different approach. It took some time for me to finally see this one, but finally i got the chance. Is the new Prometheus a new beginning of a franchise, or is this unnecessary to deliver fans of Alien?

In the year 2089, archaeologists Elizabeth Shaw ( Noomi Rapace ) and Charlie Holloway ( Logan Marshall-Green ) discover a star map, in a cave in Scotland. The map matches many different cultural writings, as if they have experienced the same meeting, with another lifeform. Peter Weyland ( Guy Pearce ), the elderly CEO of Weyland Corporation, arrange a mission for the passengers in the scientific vessel Prometheus. A team will travel to the distant mon LV-223. The android David ( Michael Fassbender ) will monitor their journey, while the team sleeps. 4 years later, they arrive to their destination. As the team heads out to investigate the amazing structures, they are about to find new details, that may be even bigger than they expected.

If you hope for a new Alien movie, you might be disappointed. This is not the same kind of story, but dont be afraid. There are some elements of Alien in here, even if the beasts are not in here. I will let you find out for yourselves. The good suprise is that Prometheus manages to capture the feeling of discovering a new world, just like the original Alien movie did, but in a completely different way. Ridley Scott really worked hard on making clever details about the moon LV-223, and you can see he found a great balance. The acting is of high quality, that is necessary, in a majestic motion picture like this, to make it work. One detail you should know is that Ridley Scott did a lot of old school work behind this project. He wanted to make it feel more real, and not everything in CGI, that makes a big difference. The sets are amazing and the atmosphere is astonishing. If you love the first Alien movie, then give Prometheus a chance. As a sci fi movie, it has so much to offer the audience, you will probably do just like me, applaude infront of the blu-ray player. Definitely worth having in your movie collection next to the Alien box.

The Cabin In The Woods

Evil Dead may be one of the most nostalgic horror movies ever made from director Sam Raimi. My personal favourite is actually Evil Dead 2, for many reasons. More butchering, more body parts, more sick humour, just my kind of entertainement for a cup of coffe. Even if Sam Raimi left the horror genre for a while, he seems to be coming back to his origins. When i heard about The Cabin In The Woods, being a tribute to Sam Raimi as well as other horror genres, i became very curious. With a mix of everything, is The Cabin In The Woods a classic, or was this idea too good to be true?

College students Curt Vaughan ( Chris Hemsworth ), Dana Polk ( Kristen Connolly ), Jules Louden ( Anna Hutchinson ), and their friends, decide to go to a remote cabin in the woods. While the party starts, they are not prepared what is about to happen. In this cabin, everything is remoted by a company with technicians, who will do everything to put on a good show, no matter how brutal these young people get killed. The show have just started, and there is no limit to what could happen.

I will say The Cabin In The Woods is a fun twist on the Evil Dead area. And this company, who survive thanks to all the viewers of how they kill teenagers is a clever idea, brought into the classic zombie scenes. You can see director Drew Goddard have worked very hard to put these pieces together, without making too many mistakes. Another fun detail is how brutal these zombies are, more brutal than the usual zombie, with different kinds of weapons, ready to tear bodies apart. Let´s not forget one big suprise, Sigourney Weaver walks in at the end of this movie, and let us know very interesting details, which i won´t give away now. If you love horror, and know a lot of the genre classics, you will enjoy The Cabin In The Woods. This is a suprisingly functional tribute.

The Expendables 2

Some things never die. Especially the love for old school action movies, that topped the box office back in the 80´s and in the 90´s. Nowdays there are still some old school actors who make these kinds of movies, as an example Dolph Lundgren. Most of his movies are made for a dvd release, but you still enjoy his acting skills. When i grew up i watched all those classics that high school boys loved, Chuck Norris, Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, as well as the bigger budget action movies with Schwarznegger, Stallone, and Bruce Willis. When Stallone got the idea to gather a gang of action old school stars in The Expendables, the world got really excited. And it did very well at the box office, and i had a great time. This time around the cast is bigger than ever before, with all of your favourite action movie stars. With a dream cast, is The Expendables 2 the ultimate action movie, or should Stallone have pushed he stop button before production started?

In Nepal, a chinese buisnessman and mercenary Trench ( Arnold Schwarznegger ) are hold hostage, The Expendables leader Barney ( Sylvester Stallone ) arrange a rescue operation. While the guys returns to New York, Billy The Kid ( Liam Hemsworth ) tells Barney he wants to retire and live with his girlfriend in France. Barney accept Billy´s dream. Mr Church ( Bruce Willis ) needs Barney and his team on a mission in Albania, to retrive something from a safe on a plane. The mission succeeds, until Jean Vilain ( Jean Claude Van Damme ) and his army sacrifice Billy The Kid. Barney swear to revenge his friends death, and to stop Jean Vilain from using 5 tons of refined plutonium.

Most critics of the world hate this movie. Thankfully i am not like most other movie critics. I love stuped action movies, especially with a dream cast like this, you simply can´t ask for much more. The Expendables 2 is a hell of a fun ride, with so much violence, and with so many cheesy lines, you just sit there with a hard on, bigger than Chuck Norris fist. And to see Jean Claude Van Damme do his special roundkicks is worth everything, this is nostalgic people. What about the rest of this amazing cast ? Dolph Lundgren is usually more tough, here he still kick some ass, but seems to have calmed down. At least he get some funny lines about Sweden, which is worth waiting for. Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarznegger have a fun scene together in a small car, it´s not often you see 2 Hollywood legends like these ones killing 67 guys with machine guns in 3 minutes, it´s just so wonderful. Some of the cheesy lines are a perfect match to the thin script, because it´s not the script we care about, it´s supposed to be pure action. I don´t remember when i laughed as much as i did watching The Expendables 2 in a cinema, simply pure joy of violence entertainment. Go see this one, or i might just woop your ass....

The Sitter

It´s possible not many of you have seen Martin Scorsese´s dark comedy After Hours from 1985. It was not a typical motion picture to be made by Scorsese, about a babysitter who gets in touble in NY. In a way it is a classic movie, for some unforgettable scenes. The babysitting theme has been used in several movies, but not one of them have delivered anything special. The Sitter seems to be a updated version of After Hours, with comedian Jonah Hill holding the steering wheel. Does The Sitter deliver a good time, or is it a waste of talent?

Noah ( Jonah Hill ) is a suspended college student, who lives with his mom. With no money and no big future plans, his mom hope he can straighten up his life. When his mom have to cancel going out, because Mrs. Pedulla ( Erin Daniels ) does not have a babysitter, he is asked to babysit for just one night. As he rings the doorbell of Peduella residence, he will soon understand what a nightmare that is waiting for him. Neurotic son Slater ( Max Records ) is 13 years old, and he sees a problem in everything. Daughter Blithe ( Landry Bender ) is a make up princess with a big mouth. And then we have adopted son Rodrigo ( Kevin Hernandez ), who is a pyromaniac and love to blow things up. Noah gets a phone call from ( what he thinks is his girlfriend ) Marisa ( Ari Graynor ). If he brings her cocaine to a party, she will have sex with him. Noah can´t say no to that, so take the three kids with him in the family´s car. As they arrive to drug dealer Karl ( Sam Rockwell ), Noah purchase the drugs and head off to meet Marisa. But when Noah finds out Rodrigo stolen an egg with cocaine from Karl, problems are about to get even bigger than before.

Let´s say this straight out. The Sitter is a stupid movie, but on the other hand, if you just want a comedy with low belt humour, this is a good choice. There are some funny scenes, like when we enter drug dealer Karl´s laboratory, with almost naked male bodybuilders with a gay rollerblade boy in paradise. Sam Rockwell works very well as Karl, a psycho who only cares about money. Or when Rodrigo stands on the dancefloor and pee all over a jewish party, classic. Jonah Hill is not a great actor, but as a babysitter he fits the character well, since he may be the worst babysitter ever. Ok, there are some bad moments also. Some of the actors does not give their best performance, it´s like they just try and look silly, and fails big time. Remember Leroy from Curb Your Enthusiasm? J.B. Smoove, he can deliver so much more than what he does here, he is usually very funny, wich is too bad. The Sitter does not go home as a winner, but it´s perfect while you have tacos and beer, and just want to laugh.

Silent House

Remake....just the word answers why Hollywood is remaking everything these days. There are not many original stories left to make a motion picture. Thankfully some directors can manage to remake a movie, without destroying the original motion picture value. When the Uruguayan motion picture The Silent House came out in 2010, alot of movie critics praised the way they choosed to make this movie. With a remake on our hands, is this actually a suprise, or is this another example of desperate film makers?

Sarah ( Elizabeth Olsen ) is staying at an Victorian house in the countryside, with her father and uncle. They are trying to fix the house, there is alot of work to be done. While her uncle takes a break, and her father continue to work upstairs, the doorbell rings. Outside is a woman who calls herself Sophia ( Julia Taylor Ross ). She claims that she and Sarah grew up together as kids, and spent a lot of time together, this is something Sarah does not remember. They agree to meet again soon, just as Sarah close the door. But what seemed to be a peacfull day with family members, is beginning to change in the worst possible way.

I have seen the original motion picture, what made the original movie special was that it was shot in just one take, no cuts, just a whole movie without cutting at all. This is not done very often at all, so what´s the difference between the original and this american remake? Not much, but i will say Elizabeth Olsen delivers a very powerful performance. She is basically almost alone in the whole movie, and with no cuts along the way, she proves that she is not afraid to try a different approach. The story itself is very thin, what makes Silent House work is the production around the final product. It´s effective, without having a big budget. I have brought this up before, but simple ideas works better most of the time than complicated ideas with big budget. Silent House will not be a future classic, but for a horror movie it knows what the audience wants, and deliver a stable presentation.

Juan Of The Dead

Zombies makes life wonderful. I just love these flesh eating psychos feeding on humans, while the rest of the world is changing for the worse. Ever since George A Romero made his classic motion pictures, a new generation zombies have entered the screen, in many different ways. One of the biggest suprises was Shaun Of The Dead, the british zombie comedy who became a huge box office hit. So what would you say if Cuba, did their own version of a zombie invasion gone all wrong, with a different perspective? Is this a future classic, or should the cubans just stayed to dancing and smoking cigars?

Juan ( Alexis Diaz de Villegas ) and his best friend Lazaro ( Jorge Molina ) are living a normal life in Havanna. But things are about to change, when they discover something is happening with the people in town. They are becoming flesh eaters, as chaos begins to spread. So Juan comes up with a perfect idea, to start a business named Juan Of The Dead, you just call and he and his friends come and kill your family members. While business begins to roll up, some things may still be complicated.

It´s been a long time i laughed so much as i did watching Juan Of The Dead. Director Alejandro Brugués finds a perfect balance of dark comedy and zombies, wich makes this a big knockout. Just imagine a she male, shooting zombies with a slingshot, and she´s more afraid of bugs than zombies? Brilliant. Or when the use a harpoon, to shoot through an old man, and accidently kills his normal wife also? It may sound like sick humour, but i love it. And the scenery of Havanna is wonderful, wich makes it more fun to see zombie invasion in a beautiful city like this. Juan Of The Dead is out now on dvd in the Uk, i bought myself a copy, and i suggest you do the same. From all the comedy releases this year, this may be one of the funniest motion pictures in a very long time. I am actually hoping for a sequel, i think it actually might work very well.

The Dark Knight Rises

Summer of 2012 is filled with comic book movies, The Avengers, The Amazing Spiderman and of course the latest Batman movie .If you look at all the Batman movies, they all deliver different quality. And if you have not seen Batman & Robin, then don´t worry, you wont regret it. In fact, it may be one of the worst comic book movies made in the 90´s. Thankfully director Christoper Nolan picked up the story of Batman in 2005, to give us a more darker, serious story of Bruce Wayne. Wich gave us 2 movies with very high quality, and who will ever forget Heath Ledger´s performance as The Joker ? With this latest story of Batman, will Christopher Nolan dazzle us once again, or is the magic gone?

8 years have gone, and Gotham City is in a state of peace. Commissioner James Gordon ( Gary Oldman ) have cleaned up the city, but he feels guilty. He knows about the cover-up of Harvey Dent ( Aaron Eckhart ), but he can´t tell the world about it. As villain Bane ( Tom Hardy ) finds out about the cover up, he makes sure to use this information. Bane have placed a nuclear weapon in Gotham City, and will detonate it. As people wonder where Batman is, we find Bruce Wayne ( Christian Bale ) closed in his mansion, he does not belive in himself anymore. Trying to deal with his pain, and the fact that Wayne Enterprise is not doing well, he finds out what Bane is up to. As time is running out, he knows Gotham City needs his help.

If you know the story and the characters of the comic books, you will love the details The Dark Knight Rises give us. You can tell Christopher Nolan wants to stay true to the original story, and give us a big piece of the pie. Remember what i said about details earlier? This is a very important issue during the movie, there are a lot of scenes with much to say, both about Gotham City as well as the life of Bruce Wayne. The most positive suprise is how good Tom Hardy is as Bane, a very disturbed gentleman with a unique style. When he takes place, and speaks, you want to hear more. On the negative side there are some scenes that are very dull. Really? Yes, im afraid so. When we think of Batman we would want massive action scenes, and less drama. There are some amazing scenes, like when the football arena falls apart, but we would have needed some more of this to clean the spots. But don´t worry, if you look at the results of the whole movie, this is a very proffessional product of the Batman franschise, and well worth watching. The Dark Knight Rises delivers a cinematic experience that few superhero movies don´t even come close to. Make sure you get tickets, i can tell you that there is a suprise in the ending, that will please fans of a certain character....

Rec 3 Génesis

Weddings. Almost every girl want to wear a wedding dress, experience a moment of a lifetime that last forever. Well, not always. Besides, to be married does not guarantee eternal happiness, it takes a lot of work to make it work. So what if you´re wedding became a disaster, not what you would expect? Rec 3 Génesis is the next chapter of the huge spanish success series. Does Rec deliver for a 3rd time, or is this just an excuse to make more cash?

Koldo and Clara are preparing for their wedding day. Family and friends make sure everything is perfect, and look forward to a big party. But when one of the family members have been infected from a dog bite, all hell breaks loose. What seemed to be a perfect day, is now a wedding straight from hell.

When America tried their own version of Rec, they actually managed to do a quite good version. But the second one did not deliver the same quality. In a way, Rec 3 is not as good as the first 2 spanish movies. One problem is that it´s more made like a real movie. So, it loose some of the feeling of a Rec tradition, documentary horror. Still, i had a good time. Maybe because i love the idea of a massacre wedding, especially to see a bride with a chainsaw split bodies in half, that´s my kind of wedding. And the Spongebob guy with a shotgun is a fun character, every kids nightmare. Another detail you see this time, is that the infected show their true bodies in mirrors, the human body is just a shell. When all pieces are put together, Rec 3 manage to keep the audience satisfied. If you did not know a 4th one is on the way, i am not sure if that is a good idea, but who knows, maybe we have some more fun coming our way.
