I don´t know why but i always wanted to go on a boat ride through the swamps of Louisiana. Imagine seeing all the snakes there and especially the alligators while having moonshine. I know it may not be the best combination while driving a boat, but just standing still at a nice location in the swamp enjoyning the moonshine, now that´s my kind of vacation spot. All that fresh air on a hot day might at least clear your mind a bit. I realise i could fall off the boat of course and become a alligator meal, at least i made sure they had lunch so that´s good. I have been watching some seasons of the TV reality show Swamp People on History Channel and i actually enjoy the show. Im not saying it´s a good thing to kill alligators but i understand in some cases there are alligators that causes trouble. Swamp People show us how you hunt alligators in the swamps of Louisiana and i especially enjoy the alligator hunter known as Troy Landry. There is just something special about the personality of Troy that you can´t deny, he have a very special charm that comes across very clear on the reality TV show Swamp People. If you for some reason have not seen any episodes of this reality TV show i say give it a chance at least. Speaking of alligators we have some classic films in the past that brought in alligators into the horror genre. You have the classics such as Eaten Alive from 1976 by legendary director Tobe Hooper ( also starring a very young Robert Englund ) and you also have the iconic motion picture known as Alligator released in 1980 from director Lewis Teague ( who also directed the Stephen King film adaptation of Cujo ). I have seen both of these films but i actually never saw the sequel to Alligator known as Alligator II: The Mutation from 1991. I might check it out at some point. One film i have been excited to see if a film released by the famous production and distribution company The Asylum and that film is called Attack Of The Meth Gator. Ever since i saw the poster of this film i knew this would be something in my taste. I decided to give this film a chance and the question is, does the film Attack Of The Meth Gator bring more fun than i expected or is this just as terrible as the awful The Asylum movie known as Supercroc from 2007 ( a film everyone should experience for all the wrong reasons )?
An alligator in Florida swallow bags of meth drugs he finds on the bottom of the swamp. For each meth bag the alligator becomes even more dangerous and stronger as a group of people try and survive against this beast.
If you are going into a film such as Attack Of The Meth Gator ( or as it is called Methgator as well ) you should not take this film seriously at all. This is one of those B movies that is made to entertain fans of B horror movies where this film falls into the category of animal horror. In the case of Attack Of The Meth Gator i wouldn´t really say there is a plot here. In one way there is but i honestly don´t think you will care, you just want to see a huge alligator high on meth killing people. At least that is what i want from a film like this and i would be perfectly fine if nothing of the plot makes any sense. So let´s talk about the best part of this film and let me begin by saying the CGI effects of the meth gator looks better than i expected. It´s not perfect in any way but i do feel they managed to get this CGI alligator done in a way that matches the attacking scenes. The swamp scenes matches well with the so called plot in the sense that this would probably be where you met an alligator. You even have bikini girls in here so you know this is definetely a quality film. The acting in general is what you could expect from a film like this, but i especially enjoy the performance of Sheriff Williams played by actor Bruce Peoples. This is the kind of Sheriff you would want in a small town, and the character match well with the storyline. I enjoy the performance of actor Wade Hunt Williams as the cheerful character Grady. So let´s get to the negative for a bit and that is i feel this film could have been more bloody. If you are going to have a big alligator high on meth attack we want to see lots of blood and body parts. We do get a little bit of that but i feel they could have done more just to make this film even more entertaining. Other than that i pretty much got all i was hoping for of Attack Of The Meth Gator, just pure B movie fun like the good old days of the 70´s and 80´s video violence. Director Christopher Ray ( who directed 3-Headed Shark Attack that i enjoy ) manage to find a balance of this film to work and clearly knew what audience this film was made for. Attack Of The Meth Gator is a simple but fun B movie for all of you who just want to have a good time with some cold beers. Did someone say wrestle alligators? Im definetely on, especially now after i have experienced this charming film.
